I haven't updated in quite a long time, but no time better than the present, eh? Manny is in Bremen, Germany. 'Turandot' production has started and our dear hero is playing Calaf. I said in an earlier entry that the greatest operas involve the tenor winning and in this particular piece of unmatched greatness he does nothing more than kick the ass of the blood thirsty principessa Turandot and he gets to sing the blow em out of the water "Nessun Dorma". We are beginning to realize that Europe hasn't seen the likes of his type of tenor since the great Pavarotti began to grace these very same stages.
Recently he debuted 'Carmen' in which he played no other than the lovelorn Don Jose. A recent Austrian newspaper said that he had found his parade role in 'Don Carlos' but I disagree. I think it's Don Jose that will propell him to the top and make him a quasi household name. Its merely a waiting game at this point.
I have fallen in love, again. Austria is by far the most beautiful country I have seen, the people, the food, the the long, dwindling cobblestone alleys and of course, the architecture. I think I have found my heaven. It seems that the ever present snow capped Alps are constantly reaching for the sky and I couldn't use a better metaphor for our new life here.
