Guten Abend. You know, I really oughta only write this thing when I'm moderately to severely buzzed. It's much more interesting that way, don't you think? So therefore, I shall drink a little wine now, hopefully I will be able to catch a buzz for the duration of this entry. Can't get knock down drunk, of course. Have to get up early and take Adrian to school tomorrow.. plus both boys don't like to sleep in much later than 6:30. Makes it a tad bit difficult to wrestle a hangover when both kids need food, clothing, baths. You know how it goes. So tonight, it being almost 9 in the p.m. (noon for you Cali dwellers) , I'll start early and hopefully something interesting will come out of my head. So, what do you all think of the new template? I like this black better than the blue/green/brown montage before. Not really because of the color;moreso because this template actually posts the TITLE of each entry (unlike said old one). The white on black can make one's eyes a little bleary, though. Heed the warning.
Ok, thanks for allowing that PSA. Onto the real crap:
Where is our dear Hero now? Far away in Deutschland. Stuttgart, to be exact. A rather large, State opera house, rehearsing 'Norma'. What is his role you ask? Why, Polione (Po-lee-oh-nee), of course! With a libretto and music the size of a house to sing. Sheesh. It's a BIG role.
And Landes. Well what can we say about Landes? The theater is not bad. It's a small, decentish house. Got Manny his first gig this side of the Atlantic, got him out of NY and welcomed with flying colors to Europe.. but wait! My opera-crap sensors are spinning. Alarms are wailing. What exactly is going on here? Strange, dirty Met crap. You would think an opera house which could fit in the lobby of the Met (I'm not exaggerating) and paid by taxpayers would be a bit more accommodating, but no. I've heard stories of people throwing literal tantrums and receiveing EVERYTHING they yell and scream about and yet, our quiet-do-no-harm tenor gets a bit of the Great Shaft. What is that all about? I suppose in the great scheme of things, who needs a two bit house? Well we needed it to get us here, we needed it to open doors elsewhere (which, in all fairness, it really has) but what else? Ah, JEALOUSY! Could that green eyed monster be the culprit? You betcha! It's way too long and involved to discuss here.. but just know, a tenor's ego can derail anything good and right. Even for a colleague who is just downright better, more professional and intuitive about the music. But I guess he who throws the loudest tantrum, wins! Its a damn shame, really.. but never fear. Better things are happening, have happened and have still to come.

Yeah, stupid Landestheater. I hate that place, I don't like the people and the productions suck. especially when an always waving tenor sings. He just sucks. But do you really think he's gonna have a career? Let him just have his one moment of luck and happiness. Showing the people that he's a real Diva. He's not gonna have too many of these moments in his life! Everybody knows he sucks. But that is typical for Linz. Linz sucks, so why should the Theater be any better?
Well that waving tenor has been signed to some agent. Saw him on the agent's page while trying to find reviews of the latest pro-craption (Manon).
But having an agent doesn't automatically lead you to a good carrer. Other people have ears too!
That's what I think, too. It's definitely good for wavey guy because he studied in Salzburg, but other than that.. the guy sings like he's tone deaf! And I'm not the only one who hears him that way.. You know too! He's had countless reviews mentioning his vocal problems. Just goes to show ya, even the opera world is FULL of politics.
